Tally vs Typeform: Unlimited Free Forms or Paid Polish?

November 6, 2026

Pick Tally if you want unlimited forms and submissions without paying, with logic, payments, signatures and file uploads included in the free plan. Pick Typeform if your team wants its conversational form style and AI form tools and has the budget for a plan that starts at $39 a month for 100 responses.

Both are online form builders that run in the browser, both support conditional logic and both connect to tools like Google Sheets and webhooks. The main differences are what the free plan includes and how quickly costs grow with your response count.

Which is cheaper, Tally or Typeform?

Tally, by a wide margin, and for many people it costs nothing at all.

Tally's pricing page says it gives you "unlimited forms and submissions, completely free, as long as you stay within our fair usage guidelines." Its paid plans exist for extras like branding and teams, not for more responses:

  • Pro: $24 a month, with 2 months off if you pay yearly.
  • Business: $74 a month.

Typeform prices its plans by responses per month:

  • Basic: $39 a month, or $28 a month billed yearly, for 100 responses and 1 user.
  • Plus: $79 a month, or $56 billed yearly, for 1,000 responses and 3 users.
  • Business: $129 a month, or $91 billed yearly, for 10,000 responses and 5 users.

Typeform's free plan exists, but its pricing page only describes it as "basic features with a limited number of responses per month".

What do you get free in Tally that costs money in Typeform?

Quite a lot. We read both pricing pages on 6 November 2026. Tally's free plan listed payments, signatures, file uploads, a custom thank-you page, conditional logic and calculations, password protection, answer piping, closing forms on a limit or date, more than 45 languages with right-to-left support, and integrations with Google Sheets, Notion, Airtable, Zapier, Make and webhooks. The one limit we found was on uploads: Tally Pro "removes the 10 MB per file size limit when using the File Upload block", so free forms cap each uploaded file at 10 MB.

Typeform's pricing page lists conditional logic and webhooks as features of the paid Basic plan, does not itemize what the free plan includes, and puts branding removal on the Plus plan.

What you pay for in Tally Pro:

  • Removing Tally branding and using your own domain.
  • Inviting unlimited team members to shared workspaces.
  • Partial submissions, which capture answers from people who leave before submitting.
  • Custom CSS, drop-off analytics and 30 days of version history.

Tally Business adds automatic deletion of old submissions, email verification for respondents and 90 days of version history.

Which is easier to use?

Both are built to be quick, but they feel different.

Tally says you can start creating a form right away with no sign-up needed. Typeform leans on AI: its Basic plan lists "AI-powered form creation", and its homepage describes "conversational logic that adapts to every response", claiming this doubles completion rates compared with traditional forms. That number is Typeform's own claim, not a result we tested.

If you want a form live in a few minutes and do not want to think about plans, Tally is the lighter choice. If your team already designs campaigns around Typeform and uses its analytics and AI features, the subscription can make sense.

Is Tally or Typeform better for privacy and GDPR?

Tally is the simpler answer for EU-focused teams. It says it is a Belgium-based company that complies with GDPR, stores all form data in Europe, and encrypts data in transit and at rest. Its Business plan can delete submissions automatically after a set period.

Typeform says its systems are on AWS, data in transit uses TLS 1.2, and data at rest is encrypted with AES using a 256-bit key. Its pricing page does not say which region your data is stored in, so check with Typeform if that matters to you.
