Google Forms vs Typeform: Free Basics or Polished Forms?
Pick Google Forms if you want a plain, no-fuss way to collect answers or run a quiz, you already use a Google account, and you want every response to land in Google Sheets. Pick Typeform if the look of the form matters, for example lead capture or customer surveys on your website, and you are ready to pay a monthly plan once you need more than a handful of responses.
Both build forms in the browser, both support logic that skips or shows questions based on earlier answers, and both connect to other tools. The big differences are price, response limits and how polished the finished form looks.

Which is cheaper, Google Forms or Typeform?
Google Forms is cheaper for almost everyone.
Google Forms has no price of its own. You create a form at forms.google.com with a Google account, and the form is saved in Google Drive. Google's Workspace FAQ says free Drive users get 15 GB of storage. Businesses that want Google Workspace get Forms in every business plan Google lists, starting with Business Starter at $7 per user per month.
Typeform has a free plan, but its pricing page only says it includes "basic features with a limited number of responses per month" without giving the number. The paid plans are:
- Basic: $39 a month, or $28 a month billed yearly. 100 responses a month, 1 user.
- Plus: $79 a month, or $56 billed yearly. 1,000 responses a month, 3 users, and you can remove Typeform branding.
- Business: $129 a month, or $91 billed yearly. 10,000 responses a month, 5 users.
Above 50,000 responses a month, Typeform asks you to contact sales for a custom plan.
We checked both pricing pages on 6 November 2026. At that point, the cheapest paid Typeform plan cost $39 a month for 100 responses, while Google's cheapest business plan that lists Forms cost $7 per user per month, with no response cap mentioned on Google's Forms page or its pricing page.
Which makes better-looking forms?
Typeform, by design. Google Forms is functional first.
Typeform's homepage describes forms with "beautiful design and conversational logic that adapts to every response" and claims this doubles the completion rate compared with traditional forms. That figure is Typeform's own claim, not something we tested. From the Plus plan up, you get a custom subdomain and can remove the Typeform branding.
Google Forms lets you design and personalize a form to match your brand and says forms "look great on any device". You can pick from premade templates for surveys and questionnaires. In practice, a Google Form still looks like a Google Form, which is fine for internal use and less ideal on a company landing page.
Can both do logic, quizzes and integrations?
Yes, both cover the basics, but in different ways.
- Logic: Google Forms can show relevant questions based on previous answers. Typeform lists conditional logic among its Basic plan features, and can use logic to calculate quiz scores and show different endings to different respondents.
- Quizzes: Google Forms lets you create and grade quizzes. Typeform supports outcome quizzes with scores.
- Your data: Google Forms can save responses to Google Sheets and shows charts of the results. Typeform lists webhooks and integrations on its Basic plan.
- Collaboration: Google Forms lets you share a form with collaborators. Typeform counts users per plan: 1 on Basic, 3 on Plus, 5 on Business.
Is my data safe in Google Forms and Typeform?
Both encrypt your data. Google says files created in Forms or uploaded to Google Drive are encrypted in transit and at rest, and that Forms regularly undergoes independent checks of its security, privacy and compliance controls.
Typeform says its systems are hosted on AWS, data in transit uses TLS 1.2, and data at rest is encrypted with AES using a 256-bit key. It also says that if you cancel a paid plan, your forms and past responses are not deleted, though forms may be closed to new responses.
If neither tool fits, for example you want unlimited responses free with a more modern look, our list of Typeform alternatives compares Tally, Jotform and SurveyMonkey too.
Which should you choose?
- Teachers, clubs and internal team forms: Google Forms. Quizzes and Sheets export come with it.
