Pakistan Citizen Portal – To Solves People’s Issues

Pakistan Citizen Portalis an Integrated Citizen Grievances Redressal System connecting all government organizations, both at Federal and Provincial levels.

A Grievance Redressal is a system that records and processes the complaints made by citizens.As we know that Pakistan has a lot of local level problems faced by citizens and those issues are not addressed in appropriate time by the government. For the purpose of addressing and solving such issues, the PTI government has launched an app called Pakistan Citizen Portalon 28 October 2018.

The app serves as a carrier of complaints to their respective offices across Pakistan. The citizens are able to register their complaints through the app and government authorities address the issues of common people as soon as possible.

The app can be also considered an attempt to make Pakistan a digitally advanced country because people can make complaints online without having to go through long procedures.

How Effective It is:

In the past, we have seen that such apps are only a dummy and does not really solve the problems of people. But luckily, the citizen portal is a different story.

The citizens could raise their voices online and the government has made sure that complaints get solved as early as possible. The concerned departments and authorities are bound to respond in the specific timeline.

It has received and resolved a record number of queries in less time.

It proved to be an effective platform to directly register the issues faced by the general public and its network have now been expanded for speedy resolution of queries and complaints.

The overall ratio of resolving the complaints is 86 percent. 12, 35,000 complaints had been filed till now. Out of which the government departments already redressed 10, 57, 334 complaints.

How the system Works:

  1. The database of the application is connected to NADRA to check the authenticity of the complaint.
  2. Every week PM receives all the details about complaints from each area, and which ministries complaints are coming from.
  3. Moreover, the complainer will also be informed of a time frame in which his/her issue will be resolved.
  4. Anyone, including Pakistani citizens overseas Pakistanis and even foreigners residing in Pakistan, can file a complaint on the portal.

Availability:

The application was only available for Android when it was launched, but now it is available for iPhone users too.

How you can use the App:

To use the app and register some complaints:

  1. Download the portal app from Google Play Store or Apple App Store.
  2. Once downloaded, tap on the app to open.
  3. Make sure you have internet connectivity as it requires a stable internet connection.
  4. From the main screen, select Register to make a new account.
  5. Provide your CNIC & details here and tap next
  6. You should be registered by now and the app will take you to the home screen
  7. From here, you can tap on the “+” icon to file a new complaint.

Instructions in Urdu:

The app is developed by keeping Pakistani people in mind as it is developed for common people of Pakistan. Hence, the app supports both English & Urdu.

The instructions are written in Urdu too, so that you can easily understand the app.

Feedback for Resolved Complaints:

The app not only enables you to register a new complaint, but you can give your feedback on the resolved complaints too.

It is helpful when some complaint is marked to be resolved. But in reality, it is not fully resolved. So you can give your feedback and it can be re-addressed.

Categories to Add Complaints

The complaints are divided into categories which is a good step in my opinion. It is more convenient to register complaints by a specific category.

The categories are according to the departments. For instance, if you face a problem regarding a Government school or college, you would select the Education category and register your complaint.

The various categories are: Banking, Education, Energy & Power, Communications, Environment, Health, Cyber Crimes, Law & Order, Human Rights etc.

Trending complaint:

Where an issue is common and frequently highlighted in complaints. It is treated as a trending complaint. Such cases will specifically be looked into for a permanent or possible long term solution.

Is This a Perfect App?

Unfortunately, No. Despite having a great potential, this app is not without issues. The issues I faced are:

  • Sometimes the app suddenly crashes.
  • I have registered 6 complaints, but only 4 were solved and others were closed without resolution.

However, despite these issuesI consider Pakistan Citizen Portal a befitting weapon for across the board accountability in Pakistan. So far I have had a very good experience using this app.

I appreciate its developers for their exclusive service and giving the way to make Pakistan digital.

It has become more convenient than the other services accordingly. This app provides access to interact with the departments which we can't access in daily life.
