Disa - All in One Messenger

Disa is an all in one messaging app that combines your major instant messaging services at one place. It simply means that you can have all your conversations from Facebook, Telegram, and your sms in one single app.

The app is quite useful if you want to have all your conversations at one place. As it is easy to manage the chats, you don’t have to switch repeatedly between different apps when you are interacting with more than one messaging app at a time.

Which services you can use

Disa not only gives you your text chats at one place, but it aims to give you all the pleasure of those apps. Such as emojis, images, videos, location and file sharing. Fortunately, it fulfills its aim quite well and provides an almost stable experience.

The IM (instant messaging) services you can use are setup with plugins. The app provides you a plugin for each service.

Currently, it supports only Facebook messenger, Telegram and Sms. It supported WhatsApp at the initial stage, but WhatsApp has restricted the use of this service since 2018. Hence, WhatsApp is depreciated and now it cannot be used with this app.

The plugin support is limited but it can be extended as the plugins are open source. It means that third party developers can contribute to it and can develop plugins for other IM services which is a great thing.

With it being open source, the app can grow rapidly.

It is really easy to setup the app and use your desired services from a central point. The plugin installation is also very simple and it is just a matter of a few seconds.

The user interface of the app is simple and user friendly. It offers a clutter free experience. Hence, you can enjoy the app to the fullest.

Tons of Customizations

The app offers you tons of customization options. You can change the bubble colors, font colors and size, set a background to your chats and many more.

You can also customize your notifications, set different colors for different services. With these features, it will be easy for you to know from which service Disa is sending you notifications and from which service the message is received.

Supports all sorts of Media

With this app, you can easily send audios, videos, images and emojis just like you do with the regular IM clients. It also lets you share location with your contacts. You can also send a voice message.

I prefer this app over my regular Facebook messenger. For a simple reason that along with images and videos, it allows sending files to my connections. The regular FB messenger does not allow this and it seems really annoying to me. I have to open my Facebook in browser or a laptop to send a file.

How to Set Up

The app is quite easy to set up. It displays you a list of plugins for different IM clients.

1. Click on your desired IM plugin and install it
2. Give your login credentials for that service
3. Give it some time and it will load your conversations.
4. You can switch between different IMs by using a floating icon located at the bottom of screen
5. If you want to customize an IM, go to its settings and customize it the way you like.

Final Thoughts

I have used this app for almost 2 months and till now I am satisfied with it. The app does what it says. However, nothing is perfect and everything has some drawbacks.

The first time you setup a new service, it takes some time to get ready and to load. This delay seems annoying to me. But after the first time, the conversations load quickly most of the time.

I have tried it with Facebook messenger and Telegram. It pulls all your recent chats from these services but the messages are not imported. Only the last sent message is pulled. To initiate a new chat, you can search for your contacts you have in these services.

The customization options are enough and they really add up to the experience. The app is great to use as an all in one messenger but sadly it does not support WhatsApp now.

As you all know, WhatsApp is the most widely used IM worldwide. The lack of support for WhatsApp is the largest drawback of this app and I request the developers to do something about it. It would be great if they bring the WA support back.
